without proof; suppose; presume...ASSUME

I'm just a girl who wants to stop assuming the worst and start believing the best in people. Got a little lesson in this earlier in the week, but as I think back, I do it ALL THE TIME! The old saying says to never assume cause it makes a donkey (keepin' it PG ;) out of u and me. Mostly me. Brendon and I decided that we would finally pay for reserved spots in our parking garage since they made an offer we couldn't refuse. Monday came along and they put up the signs. The guy that usually parks in one of them came home and parked there after and stayed there for 3 days and on Tuesday parked his other car in the other spot. I came home everyday fuming because I just knew he had done it on purpose and he was just trying to get back at us for taking the spots. I was ready to have him towed, which by the way would have cost him $900. I'm so glad I have Brendon! He is so rational when I'm not. On Wednesday afternoon after the office had contacted him, the guy came out and moved his cars. Brendon happened to go out while he was in the process and the guy profusely apologized. He said he never even noticed the signs when he parked or he would never have done it and it wouldn't happen again. Brendon said he was the nicest guy...and I'm a huge donkey! I find myself making assumptions about people's intentions every day. Wouldn't it be better for all if I just assume their intentions are pure, even if they're not? There would never be hurt or hard feelings. Some might call that seeing the world through rose colored glasses.   I think it's called being a Christian. HE actually knows our intentions and still sees the best in us when it's buried so deep, I'm not really sure it exists. He looks at us through love. That's how I want to see other people. Self improvement comes with self examination and I'm thankful that God illuminates the areas that need work. You never have to assume with God. His intentions are always in your best interest. "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
